Saw the Artisan Craft Themed Challenge "Hearts" and couldn't resist.
Real leather cover in poppy red. Sewn with metallic gold thread in a hitched long stitch. There are 24 heart shaped pages made from handmade paper. Fastened with a generous piece of metallic gold thread and small key that I found in a draw. At the tallest point it is 8cm in height and at it's widest point 6cm making it perfect to fill with messages and give to someone to keep in their inside breast pocket (near their heart).
Thank you! I was at the british library and they had an exhibition with prayer books from India that were in the shape of cows when closed I liked the idea. It kinda went from there...
I like this! As one who constructs books out of untraditional shapes, I must say this one tickled my fancy! Well done! I didn't know there was a challenge about heart shaped books because I have a couple that I've done. But alas, no photos as yet.
The challenges are run by the artisan craft community volunteers, I think I get the journal as I am a member of the artisan crafts group. The theme changes every month (the last newsletter is here: [link] )

Glad you like it (minus the leather)

Would love to see the books and work you mention!
